Each year the countries of northwest Africa come together to celebrate their various Arab and indigenous cultures. Join Darlington in the desert to move to Moroccan dances, sing traditional Tunisian songs and act out dramatic poems—still the desert's primary form of communication! Try your hand at weaving Berber rugs and learn about symbolic African abstract designs.
The arts are used in community celebrations in every culture around the world. Tap into the festive spirit of these artistic events at Darlington Arts Center's 2012 Cultural Summer Arts Camp. Each camp will explore music, visual art, dance and drama from different cultures, as presented in arts festivals world-wide. Students will gain the benefit of learning about diverse cultures and art forms while staying close to home under the direction of professional teaching artists.
Camp size limited. Pre-registration is required. Before- and after-care available.
