Also known as the Green Ribbon Preserve Trail, the Wissahickon Trail (WT) is currently a walking path that stretches for about 2.5 miles along the Wissahickon Creek from Stenton Avenue in Whitmarsh Township to a point near Lansdale Borough, PA.

In the future, the WT will run for 20 miles from the proposed Liberty Bell Trail in the North Penn area to the already existing, Wissahickon Valley Park Trail - Forbidden Drive. The route will be developed as a multi-use trail between Forbidden Drive and Ft. Washington State Park and will be open to bikers, walkers and in-line skaters. From here it will intersect with the existing Cross County Trail. Beyond Ft. Washington the trail will remain a walking path as it travels through the environmentally sensitive Wissahickon Valley Watershed.

The route will pass by historic properties such as The Highlands Mansion and Gardens and Hope Lodge; as well as stunning natural areas including Ft. Washington State Park, Wissahickon Valley Park and Fairmount Park. An existing short paved section can be found in front of the Morris Arboretum, and from there with a short section on-road, trail users can connect to the Forbidden Drive Trail. Other future connections will take trail users to Flourtown and Erdenheim.

The Wissahickon Trail is a part of the Circuit Trails, a vast regional network of hundreds of miles of multi-use trails that is growing in size each year. Explore 100s of miles of happy at CircuitTrails.org

The trail is open year-round, dawn to dusk.
