WXPN Welcomes Philadelphia Moth STORYSLAM

World Cafe Live

Where:
3025 Walnut Street Philadelphia PA 19104
When:
  • Tuesday September 16th 2014, 7:30am to 11:59pm
Prepare a five-minute story about your maiden voyage into uncharted territory. Wax on about your first standing ovation, miserable failure, kiss, child, crisis of conscience, job, pet, toupee, trip overseas, exorcism, internet date, grandchild or fist fight. Grand openings, birth order, wild initiations, or milestones reached.
The Moth StorySLAMs are open-mic storytelling competitions which are held in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Michigan, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Portland, Seattle, New Orleans, Houston, and Minneapolis. They are open to anyone with a five-minute story to share on the night’s theme.
When the doors open, storyteller hopefuls put their names in The Moth “hat”. A half hour later, names are picked, and one by one, storytellers take the stage. The ten featured stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience. Each StorySLAM generates a StorySLAM winner. After ten SLAMs, the winners face off in our GrandSLAM Championships.
