Spectral Impressions: Music of Philippe Hurel

Philadelphia Museum of Art

22nd St. & Ben Franklin Parkway Philadelphia PA 19101
  • Saturday July 28th 2012

The beauty and expression of Auguste Rodin’s sculpture inspires exciting new music by Philippe Hurel, to be performed during the Rodin Museum’s inaugural concert series.

The Argento Chamber Ensemble will perform three works by Philippe Hurel and debut a groundbreaking commission for the Rodin Museum. Hurel is one of the most compelling French composers on the contemporary music scene, achieving sensual lyricism and driving intensity by calibrating algorithms to transform musical materials. The Argento Chamber Ensemble has been actively promoting Hurel's music to North American audiences since hosting his first French-American cultural exchange tour in 2005. This program, including commissioning and presentation, has been supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Music Project. Rain or Shine. Paid parking is available at Eakins Oval or street parking where available.

To purchase tickets for both the July 22nd Murail Concert and the July 28th Hurel Concert at a discounted rate, please call the Ticket Center at (215) 235-7469 weekdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
