University of the Arts - School of Theater Arts

    Where
    211 S. Broad Street Philadelphia PA 19109
The School of Theater Arts provides students with an education that is in every sense intensive and geared toward professional preparation. Students will work with a faculty of accomplished professionals dedicated to helping them achieve success in the field. Students choose one of three majors. Acting majors focus on developing a strong rehearsal and performance process through a wide range of acting, speech and movement techniques. Musical Theater majors train in a similar foundation technique while strengthening their skills in music and dance. Applied Theater Arts majors study a range of disciplines such as stage management, directing, playwrighting, dramaturgy and arts management, preparing for careers or graduate study in these or related fields. A new major in Theater Design and Technology, focusing on the full spectrum of theatrical design areas and on theater production will be launched in Fall 2004. In addition to these degree programs, UArts is home to one of the most extensive stage combat programs in the country and hosts the annual Philadelphia Stage Combat Workshop.
