Afrofuturism is an artistic movement that uses futuristic and sci-fi themes to explore aspects of black history and culture. Enter this multiverse through the lens of art, media, and popular culture; learn about the historical icons and change agents connected to the movement; and consider some of the critical perspectives on race that the movement brings up. What makes Afrofuturism both a black aesthetic and a tool for social change? Explore the new myths and radical visions artists and activists from across the African diaspora are imagining into reality in pursuit of brighter, blacker futures.

We encourage you to watch live, but classes can be streamed anytime after the live session concludes. See our FAQ.
