Bringing the incomparable legacy of African American choreographers to the Perelman stage, PHILADANCO founder Joan Myers Brown has crafted a performance that highlights a past often left out of the history books.

With pieces including “Walking with Pearl” about historic choreographer and dancer Pearl Primus; a world premiere ballet entitled “Pieces of My Heart,” choreographed by Sonia Dawkins and based on the poems of renowned writer August Wilson; work from choreographer Geoffrey Holder performed by his wife, legendary guest artist Carmen de Lavallade; “Forces of Rhythm” from The Wiz choreographer and Tony Award winner Louis Johnson; and more.
