Mark your calendars! The 2015 Barrymore Awards will be held on Monday, November 2 at the Merriam Theatre! During the 2014/15 season, a team of volunteer artists, critics, and scholars attended over 100 professional theatre productions in the Philadelphia region to choose the nominees.

Theatre Philadelphia explains that "The 2015 Barrymore nominees are evidence of the breadth and strength of the Philadelphia theatre community. The vibrant, diverse work created on area stages is some of the best in the country and this year's nominees are excellent examples."  Awards will be given in 26 categories with cash prizes totaling $68,000!

You are invited to join Theatre Philadelphia as they celebrate this year's nominees and reveal this year's award recipients. And during this year's ceremony, Theatre Philadelphia will announce an exciting new Barrymore award! Following the Barrymore Awards, there will be an after-party hosted at the University of the Arts Dorrance Hamilton Hall. Enjoy an open bar, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and a great time with fellow theatregoers, artists, and friends.

A dark comedy perfect for the Halloween season, Hooked! brings us a pretty and proper little village where nothing is what it seems. The gossip and meddling, the secrets and scandals will have you cringing and laughing. Hooked, ensnared, trapped…trick or treat, anyone?

    Metamorphoses - Arden Theatre Company

    Through November 1st

From acclaimed playwright Mary Zimmerman (of Chicago’s Lookingglass Theatre) comes this dazzling adaptation of Ovid’s classic myths. A rippling, onstage pool conjures a magical world where Gods and mortals co-exist and universal tales of fate, lost love, greed, and death are shared. Tony Award-nominated for Best Play, Metamorphoses overflows with gorgeous imagery and visionary theatricality. This is storytelling at its finest.

    Disgraced - Philadelphia Theatre Company

    Through November 8th

In this highly acclaimed and provocative play, Akhtar tells the story of a successful Pakistani-American lawyer and his wife – an artist influenced by Islamic imagery – who enjoy their comfortable life on New York's Upper East Side. When a co-worker and her husband come to dinner, what begins as polite conversation explodes, leaving everyone's relationships and beliefs about race, religion, and identity in shards.
