February is Black History Month and throughout the region and across the city, events are going on to celebrate, honor, and reflect on the many contributions African Americans have made, past and present, to American society and culture.

Started as Negro History Week by Carter G. Woodson in 1926 and expanded to the full month of February in 1970, Black History Month aims to educate, celebrate and acknowledge the Black experience in America and beyond.

From low-cost museum entry to special programming, Philadelphia's cultural landscape is bursting with virtual and in-person* Black History Month events and programming.
