Black History Month is important for several reasons; it functions as a time to remind us of the incredible leaps, bounds, sacrifices and contributions that Black people have made to the American canon over the past several centuries.

While it's very important to take this month to brush up on your black history, it's equally important to engage and support the local artists of the present as they're in the process of creating history.

As a part of our Black History feature, PFG encourages you to not only learn about blackness in the past tense, but to go out and celebrate what it means to be black right here in our present. These artists are guaranteed to blow your minds, trust us.

This last year has been challenging without question, but one thing that's for sure, is that art has continued to adapt and thrive. Watch that come to life with these virtual and in-person events* from local black creators.
