Get ready, mi gente, because Hispanic Heritage Month is here!

From September 15 - October 15, the Latinx community gets to share with the rest of the world what we already celebrate every day--our cultura, our sazón-filled food and rhythmic music, our stories demonstrating resilience, fuerza and joy and the incredible diversity that exists amongst us.

The City of Brotherly Love and the Greater Philadelphia region is home to many different Latinx communities. Whether we’re immigrants who chose Philly as our home, refugees seeking resettlement or American-born Latinx, we are all here, unidos, and excited to bask in the beauty of a month dedicated to us in a city that we love.

Whether you’re a fellow Latinx looking to explore and engage with your own community or someone interested in celebrating our heritage, below are the top Philly-based events that are showcasing our history and contributions to the world. Are you Latinx? Share with us how you’re celebrating on FacebookInstagram and Twitter @Phillyfunguide!

    XPN Welcomes: Los Lobos

Since 1974, East L.A.’s Los Lobos have been exploring the artistic and commercial possibilities of American biculturalism, moving back and forth between their Chicano roots and their love of American rock & roll. Check out one of the great bands of Latino Rock on November 20 and 21 at The Colonial Theatre for a night representing America’s cultural melting pot.

Not from here, Not from There/No Soy de Aqui ni de Alla: The Autobiography of Nelson Diaz

A 1972 Temple University Law School graduate, Nelson Díaz was the first Puerto Rican lawyer admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar Association and became the state’s first Latino judge and partner in a top-100 law firm.
