With schools closed and work now at home, we know how hard it is to keep everyone in your house entertained in this era of social distancing.

If the little ones in your house have got you scrambling for activities, search no further than the Facebook account of your favorite organization. Many children's organizations, arts and cultural organizations, museums and more, have moved their family programming online for you and your kids to stream whenever. With interactive games, online classes and camps, and even penguins, staying at home has never been so exciting.

Check out our picks below for virtual resources for kids that will engage the whole family!

Tell us how you're surviving the quarantine on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @Phillyfunguide!

    Play brain games:

Franklin Institute brings the fun of their popular Your Brain exhibit to your home with their interactive digital exhibit! Users can play digital games, watch videos about the science behind the brain, view image galleries and even download learning curriculums. Their online learning resources don't end there: make sure you're also keeping up with their #SparkofScience and Bad Science video series.

    Go to the playground:

Smith Memorial Playground is helping us have fun through their Play is Not Cancelled series for parents. Parents can watch short instructional videos on how to build a pillow fort and teaching with stuffed animals to gain ideas for in-home activities that are both fun and instructional.

    Start a garden:

Very few activities are as calming and entertaining as gardening, and it's a very easy activity for the whole family to join in on. Philadelphia Horticultural Society is helping you get started with their Let's Grow Together blog series. Learn how to have a healthy garden from the ground (literally) up with daily gardening tips, instructional videos and more.

    Visit the Zoo:

If you don't already follow the Philadelphia Zoo on Facebook, then now is the perfect time to start. While the Zoo is currently closed to visitors, you can still spend time with your favorite animals from the comfort of your home with their Philly Zoo @ 2 live series; every afternoon at 2p.m., the Zoo goes live on their Facebook account and gives virtual tours of their various animal exhibits.
