Leyla McCalla truly is one of a kind. A New York-born Haitian-American living in New Orleans, who sings in French, Haitian Creole and English, and plays cello, tenor banjo and guitar.
Opening for Leyla is Kipyn Martin - see below for more info
Deeply influenced by traditional Creole, Cajun and Haitian music, as well as by American jazz and folk, her music is at once earthy, elegant, soulful and witty — it vibrates with three centuries of history, yet also feels strikingly fresh, distinctive and contemporary.
Her first album was named ‘Album Of The Year’ by the London Sunday Times and Songlines Magazine. She will debut a brand new album with an all-star band at the Gild Hall.
Kipyn Martin is an emerging Indie Folk artist whose roots sink deep into the banks of the Shenandoah River. She plays festivals, concert halls, coffeehouses, and house concerts from New England to Texas.
