While only a short 2.6 miles, Chester County’s Struble Trail is a well-used route that connects to several neighborhood trail systems and is popular with bike commuters, walkers, cross-country skiers, and even horseback riders on the undeveloped sections. The trail is named after former county commissioner, Robert Struble, who was instrumental in making the multi-purpose trail a reality and who helped acquire land for the Marsh Creek Reservoir and State Park located near the northern end of the route (plans call for an eventually connection from the trail to the park).

The paved Struble Trail follows a corridor established by the East Brandywine Railroad Company and travels from Norwood Road at Kardon Park in Downingtown to Dorian Mill Road in Dorian (plans call for the future continuation of the trail north). Along the way travel alongside the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek on a mostly flat route that has slight undulations, as well as protective shade in hot weather. Between Dorian Mill and Dowlin Forge Roads find a special regulation artificial-lure trout fishing area that draws large crowds. A valid fishing license and special regulations apply, so be sure to check with PA Fish and Boat Commission for more details before dropping a line. From the trail it is possible to connect with the 2-mile Uwchlan Trail (on the right just beyond Dowlin Forge Road).

The Struble Trail is a part of the Circuit Trails, a vast regional network of hundreds of miles of multi-use trails that is growing in size each year. Explore 100s of miles of happy at CircuitTrails.org

The trail is open from 8 a.m. to dusk.
