The exhibition title ‘Cargamontón’ in Spanish means the harassment of one person by several people. It is also the name of a violent and oppressive game performed by school boys at Soldi’s all-boys Catholic school in Peru, where young men asserted power over each other. Among the many cruel rituals, in ‘Cargamontón’ a group of school-mates piled atop a boy, smothering him under a crush of bodies.
