Once a portion of the corridor of the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Line that served New Jersey beach towns such as Atlantic City, Ocean City, Wildwood and Cape May, today the 6.36-mile Monroe Township Bike Path offers a tranquil multi-use off-road trail link between Glassboro and Williamstown, New Jersey. The trail begins at Delsea Manor Drive/SR 47 in Glassboro and continues to Bluebell Road/CR 633 at Virginia Avenue in Williamstown. Along the way pass alongside the Glassboro Wildlife Management Area (WMA) where a dense tree canopy provides shade on hot summer days. The WMA offers over 2,000 areas of low deciduous swamp forest that is considered a good “birding by ear” destination because of the dense shrub understory. At various times of the year visitors can find a wide variety of butterflies and birds such as owls, warblers, orioles and other species, as well as wild turkey and deer (hunting is allowed in season so be sure to wear bright clothing at those times.) The trail runs along the edge of the WMA, but to access the grounds head south on Fries Mill Road and look for the parking lot on your right. The Bike Path continues through a combination of residential areas, woods and playing fields before ending across the street from the Williamstown Police Station. Here you will find a plaque honoring George F. MacDonald Sr., mayor of Williamstown from 1975 and 1978, and to whom the trail is dedicated.

The Monroe Township Bike Path is a part of the Circuit Trails, a vast regional network of hundreds of miles of multi-use trails that is growing in size each year. Explore 100s of miles of happy at CircuitTrails.org
