Kicking off on June 2, youth arts nonprofit, ArtWell, will host the second annual Awaken Your Dreams Poetry and Art Show. The exhibition will include visual artwork and poetry created by K-12 students and Teaching Artists from partner schools and community organizations across Philadelphia. This year, our event coincides with National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
The Awaken Your Dreams Poetry and Art Show will begin with an opening reception on June 2 from 5:00-8:00 PM at 1040 Creative, a Black-woman owned cultural art center and gallery in Northern Liberties. The reception will be followed by a week-long exhibit to celebrate the tremendous work students and Teaching Artists created over the school year. Not only will attendees be able to eat, mingle, and connect with each other, but they will also enjoy some inspiring creations.
ArtWell works in partnership with schools and other organizations to support youth through multidisciplinary arts expression and education. The organization has a long-term commitment to awaken creativity and spirit in individuals to foster thriving, just and peaceful communities.
Through ArtWell’s programs, students learn to express themselves, process emotions and experiences, and share their own voices.
