The Mütter Museum has attracted those interested in pathology, morbid anatomy, and human development since 1859. However, even repeat visitors may be unaware that only a fraction of the Museum's collection of 35,000 objects is on display at any given time; the remainder is sequestered in storage rooms that are scattered around the building and not accessible to the public. Photographer Nikki Johnson explored these behind-the-scenes spaces of the College and creating inspired still life photos of items that intrigued her. The result of her work is Unseen.
Unseen features dramatic images of rarely-seen Museum specimens and spaces through the lens of renowned forensic photographer, Nikki Johnson, displayed in the College’s Thomson Hall. The result is a visual backstage pass into our storage areas that will delight and enthrall Mütter Museum fans! Unseen will be on display beginning February 5, 2021.
