Purcell's Dido and Aeneas: Reclaiming the Queen

    Children's Opera Box

301 N Chester Rd., Swarthmore, PA
    • Saturday March 16th 2019, 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Opera Box presents a different look at the mythical queen of Carthage. Strong, intelligent and brave, Dido ruled a kingdom by herself and had the respect of her people...

Did she kill herself because a lover abandoned her or is she another powerful woman buried in history under the stories of men?

Framed by Purcell's breathtaking score, Opera Box brings an exploration of the true character of Dido, as presented in Virgil's The Aeneid.
