    Handle With Care

    Where
    S. Plum Street between State Street and Baker Street Media PA 19063
    Artist: Claire Brill
    2007

The Media Arts Council's (M.A.C.) mosaic mural incorporates clay hands created by over 300 community members. The hands are juxtaposed on large leaf forms inspired by trees native to the area. The mural celebrates our interconnectedness with each other, the environment and the community in which we live.

This is M.A.C.'s first public art project, achieved with the assistance of innumerable Media area residents, employees, and businesses. M.A.C. dedicated the mural to the community on May 12, 2007 at Media's Second Saturday arts festival.

The mural is on the Plum Street Mall between State and Baker Streets.

This project was made possible through the 5-County Arts Fund, a Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. It is funded by the citizens of Pennsylvania through an annual legislative appropriation, and administered locally by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. The 5-County Arts Fund is also supported by PECO, An Exelon Company.
