Suspended from the ceiling above the Terminal A-West ticketing counters and viewable from the moving walkway, Helmick Schechter Studio created a sequence of 6 hanging sculptural installations. Each grouping is comprised of over 1,000 small sculptures of birds, approximately 3 inches in size, precisely hung from steel cables. As the viewer experiences the 6 groupings, the clusters of birds change from a large flock of birds scattered in no apparent formation, to the birds arranging themselves into the overall shape of an epic goose, and finally into the formation of a classic DC-3 aircraft. The entire artwork consists of 6,749 bird sculptures suspended from 5302 steel cables.
