Katrina Atkin began dancing at the age of 3 in the Chicago suburbs. She relocated to Philadelphia in order to earn her BFA in Modern Dance Performance on scholarship from The University of the Arts, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. While at UArts, Katrina has had the honor to study with and perform works by Douglas Becker, Iris Bouche, Manfred Fischbeck, Curt Haworth, Nicholas Leichter, Netta Yerushalmy, and Jesse Zaritt. In addition, she has intensively studied modern, ballet, composition, and improvisation with Meredith Glisson, Jennifer Johnson, Bronwen MacArthur, Katie Swords, and Eva Szabo. She focused her efforts on the study of choreography and had the honor of having a number of her pieces produced and performed on campus. In high school, she directed, choreographed and performed in an independent student company, Patchwork City Dance. She has spent many of her summers at workshops, most notably with Doug Varone and Dancers, the American Dance Festival, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, where she studied Gaga technique. Katrina graduated from The University of the Arts in May 2013 with an award for Choreographic Excellence. Since graduation, Katrina has performed with Curt Haworth, J.E. Kim and at 5x7 Space. Last fall, she produced her own show, Roots, in collaboration with Alessandra Delle Grotti and Ann-Marie Gover.
