Traveling by vans, our first stop will be a guided tour through the fascinating studios of woodworker George Nakashima in New Hope. Nestled into a beautiful wooded setting, we will see showrooms, assembly rooms, and an amazing lumber storage space. Lunch will be enjoyed at the lovely, terraced, country garden at Jericho Mountain Orchards just a few miles away. In addition to the 19th century apple orchard, this private property has old garden roses and climbers that ramble over 18th century walls and barns which lead to perennial borders and formally parterred beds.
After lunch we will head to Paxon Hill Farm for a tour of their extensive public and private gardens that include, to quote their website, “… shade gardens, formal gardens, ponds, bell garden, wing gardens, a place we call ‘never never land’ and there are always more unique gardens projects underway.
Our last stop of the day will be the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown.
