    Bucks County Playhouse

    Where
70 South Main Street, New Hope, PA 18938

The Bucks County Playhouse, located in New Hope, PA was once known as "America’s Most Famous Summer Theatre" and we are so thrilled to have the opportunity to return it to the status that it so deserves.  Opening in 1939, after having been converted from a mill by a small group including Moss Hart, the BCP ran continuously until 2010 when it was forced to close. As we dig through all of the history, everyday we are reminded how precious this theatre was to so many.

The BCP roster of actors is a veritable who’s who of Hollywood and Broadway. Some of the most illustrious performers including Grace Kelly, Angela Lansbury, Bea Arthur, Walter Matthau, Uta Hagen, Leslie Neilson, Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn (in their first stage production together), Liza Minnelli, Helen Hayes, Tovah Feldshuh, Andrea McArdle, June Lockhart, Colleen Dewhurst, Kitty Carlisle, Bert Lahr, and Robert Redford have played the stage of BCP. The list goes on and on and as we start on this new journey we know that the list will soon be filled with incredible new talent. BCP showcased some of the theatres most beloved musicals and plays. Productions of She Loves Me, West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Annie Get Your Gun, The Glass Menagerie, The Odd Couple, Dial M For Murder, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? are among the hundreds of titles. It was also a stepping stone for many Broadway productions including Harvey, and Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park and we will of course continue to encourage this creative development.
