2020 will be long remembered as a year of upheaval and uncertainty as the United States grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, racial injustice, political protest, and a heated presidential election. These events have prompted us to ask, what work is essential for our health, well-being, and a more equitable future?
During these challenging times, the creation and sharing of images have raised awareness, communicated information, spread hope, and strengthened connections. The Michener Art Museum will be showcasing digital images selected from our community in the Bucks County, Philadelphia, and the greater Delaware Valley region that capture the many meanings of “essential work” in 2020.
