Born and raised in the mountains of Puerto Rico, Ashleen Castillo (BFA Fashion Design) is an emerging designer whose work reflects her lasting connection to the island and an interest in sustainable design practices. Castillo made her way to Philadelphia after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico and has used her creative vision and technical skills to make celebratory statements of resistance about her homeland. In Episode 8, Castillo opens up about the deep personal significance of her work and her exciting travel plans for the future!
