Located in the Chinatown neighborhood, Asian Arts Initiative (AAI) shows the intersection between social justice and cultural expression. AAI is an interdisciplinary space hosting a variety of programs including exhibitions, performances, workshops and additional space to rent for events or co-working space. Their organization highlights the unique challenges, talents and histories of the Asian community.
Located in a Historic Germantown home, The Colored Girls Museum (TCGM) came to life in 2015. The three story home is dedicated to the art and cultural experiences and perspectives of colored girls. Filled with curated works, this museum provides unique narratives of collected stories told by the “colored girl.” Ever intriguing and insightful, with the intentional use of “colored girls” in their name, TCGM aimed to elevate and include all colored girls across the diaspora and reflect their complex histories.
Located in West Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Dance Company provides a cultural experience and instruction to the community for over 50 years. Founded in 1970 by pioneer and dancer, Joan Myers Brown, Philadanco continues to push the envelope and train the best dancers across various cultural backgrounds and empower youth to participate and enjoy dance as a way of life.
Located in North Philadelphia, Taller sits at the center of Philadelphia’s Latin community. This cultural hub creates an inclusive space for people to learn more about their roots and share that value with the Greater Philadelphia region. Taller has exhibitions on display, aftercare programs, tours and workshops, and rental space.
