Dorothy Parker (1893-1967) was one of the most remarkable poets, journalists and wits that America ever produced. She had a real gift for puncturing male pomposity and calling attention to male stupidity. Parker was a charter member of the Algonquin Round Table during the 1920's and 30's. Her friends (and friendly rivals) included Harpo Marx, Robert Benchley, George Kaufman and the dreaded "Town Crier," Alexander Woolcott. She went on to become a Hollywood screenwriter and a strong supporter of civil rights. On Friday, June 7th at 11:00 A.M., Central Senior Services will present a Zoom program called "A Piece of Her Mind: Dorothy Parker and Her World." Our guest for this program will be Dr. Amy Friedman, an expert on satire, who teaches at Temple University. This program is free, but advance registration is required.
